Why online events?
An online event is an event that takes place online – i.e. over the Internet. This can be e.g. conferences, workshops or lectures. For this purpose one or more virtual rooms are set up in which the event takes place. The videos from the virtual rooms are then broadcast live over the Internet (streaming) and / or recorded and subsequently shared (recording). Participants have the option of receiving texts and / or audio recordings in addition to the live transmissions and can actively intervene by asking questions – e.g. via a forum or chat window – and receive the answers in return.
If a virtual event is based on a stable and at the same time innovative platform, it can usefully complement a physical event – and in exceptional cases or justifiable reasons, it can even replace it entirely.
